Who We Are in
Ace High
I'd have to say we're pretty serious about
Aces High - or as
serious as you can be about a flight simulation and still have fun.
Many of us have migrated from WarBirds and believe it to be the most realistic online combat flight simulation available, and we try to fly it
realistically. We take pride in the abilities of the Squad and our
record in FSO,
and we hold practices as needed to train for different events, planes, or tactics. In most
events we are assigned to fly fighters, but we maintain expertise in all of the planes of
Aces High, including bombers.
We fly together as a squad every
Friday night, and during
other special events.
Squad Night
is our regular weekly meeting which takes place every Friday Squad
Operations night, rain or shine,
holiday or not. The FSO attempt to recreate actual
missions from world war two and feature a two-sided Allied/Axis
setup and usually a theater-specific planset.
On most other nights you can find us
in the Mid-War Arena. It is not the most popular arena but
allow for a higher level of pilot skill. The planset is
limited to planes that were available during "mid-war" world war
two. Additionally, there are normally manageable numbers of
players at any given time. You can usually find two or three
of us in this arena just about any night.
During Squad Night, we try to do a little
to follow the orders of the FSO to the letter, it does not always
work out but we try. Due to our current size, we general draw
fighter missions, which suits most of us just fine. But once
we pick up a few more guys we will surely start pulling bomber
missions. The HAZE in Warbirds are notorious bombers. Squad
Night lasts as long as it lasts - usually 2-3 hours, or until the arena population gets
too low.
The
FSO is the big event of Aces
High. It takes
place most Friday evenings, and a single event consists of 3 "frames" spread out
over at least 3 weeks. Each frame lasts about 2.5 hours, and it is the most intense 3 hours you
can spend in Aces High. There are usually 2 or 3 weeks between events.
The FSO Event is a one-life-to-live affair. If you lose your
plane or die, you are done for that frame. That loss may also affect the type of plane
available for the next frame.
The FSO Event is not casual. The Haze takes this event
seriously and we do well in it. It is probably the single most popular aspect of
Aces High
for our members.
